JFF-Greater-DC x Mamaden @ Veronica Beard

Yesterday we had a blast shopping and talking with each other about infertility-related topics ranging from insensitive questions to issues around frozen embryo storage, to the need for emotional support when on a fertility journey, and much more. We are so honored that Mamaden, a DC -based platform that connects and empowers mothers, chose us to partner with and to benefit from this fundraiser.

Founded by Julianna Goldman (who has an IVF journey of her own), an award-winning journalist and mom of 2, Mamaden aims to "provide a togetherness space for moms", and that is exactly what yesterday's event was.

Thanks to Veronica Beard in Bethesda for the beautiful space, clothing, and generous donation of 10% of the proceeds from the event to the Jewish Fertility Foundation - Greater DC!

AI seems to be everywhere...including assisted rep

AI seems to be everywhere...including assisted reproductive technology! Daniella Gilboa was working on her PhD research when she realized the potential of data and AI in improving IVF care. She quickly transitioned from the world of academia to leading a start-up company. The company, AIVF, is already in some fertility clinics and the technology is helping embryologists with embryo selection (among other things), empowering patients to be able to see the data associated with their embryos, and, as she puts it, "use digital transformation to allow clinics to be more efficient, more accurate, more accessible, shorten the time to pregnancy, and meet the growing demand". Listen to learn how although the demand for IVF has grown in the past 45 years, the clinics haven't changed--until now!

National Maternal and Infant Health Summit- Washington DC

In addition to the moving discussion with Tiffany Haddish (see our reels with clips and quotes- you won't be disappointed), DC's Mayor Bowser spoke on a panel this morning and touched on her own pathway to parenthood (adoption) as well as fertility insurance coverage. She's pictured in the middle of the middle picture of this post, for those who don't know her.

Mayor Bowser said, "We have a new law requiring fertility coverage- a huge advance for DC women."

Later, Mayor Bowser said, "It's also important for people who have a journey like me, who became a parent at 45...not everyone's going to birth a baby!'

Tiffany Haddish, a Black Jew, as she proudly shared at today's 6th annual Maternal and Infant Health Summit in Washington, DC, has suffered multiple losses, which she recently found out was due to endometriosis. Please listen/read her words. We are sending so much love to you, Tiffany!

"And I got pregnant, and I didnt have a baby; the baby didn’t come through. And then I got pregnant again, and I got pregnant again, and again and it never came to fruition. And you know, all those years, like my periods were very very painful: extremely painful but I was told, ‘that’s normal. It’s normal to have blood clots, it’s normal that your back hurting, that you tired; that’s the curse, that’s what you gotta suffer through. And not til I was 43 years old, this year, did I find out that that’s not normal. That I have endometriosis, which is caused by several things; it could be hereditary, it could be just off of your diet alone, it could be so many factors that play into it, and some people don’t know what endometriosis is, and I guess God is like, using me, because I didn’t want to talk about it…" -Tiffany Haddish, actress, singer, comedian, author, and advocate!
